2015 Clos Floridène Graves red wine

Clos Floridène was gradually built up from 1982, by Denis and Florence Dubourdieu, during the purchase of plots in the communes of Pujols sur Ciron and Illats. The estate takes its name from the association of the two first names of the Dubourdieu couple.

Starting with 4 ha and after successive additions, it was greatly enlarged in 1991 by the purchase and attachment of Château Montalivet, whose 13 ha vines are contiguous.

While at first the wine was made in the facilities of Château Renon, a close family château, the red has been produced since the 2005 vintage in new specific cellars.

Professor at the Faculty of Oenology of Bordeaux and vice-president of the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences, Denis Dubourdieu also carries out an important consulting activity while managing Clos Floridène as well as his 3 other family properties. He is assisted by his wife Florence and his sons Fabrice, an oenologist engineer, for agronomy and technical management, and Jean-Jacques, for purchasing and marketing.

The 34 ha vineyard (19 in red and 15 in white) extends over soils similar in nature to those of Barsac, clayey sands rich in iron oxide on limestone rock subsoil. This limits rooting and provides a water reserve to reducewater stress during periods of drought.
