About the Wine
Dominique Laurent's Marsannay Red Wine is crafted exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on the northern slopes of the Côte de Nuits. This elegant expression of Marsannay reflects both the precision of its winemaker and the distinct limestone-rich soils of the region.
Terroir and Vineyard
Situated at the crossroads of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, Marsannay benefits from a unique microclimate of warm days and cool nights. The vineyards are planted on a combination of clay and limestone subsoils, providing optimal drainage and minerality that translate into exceptional finesse and structure.
Winemaking Process
Grapes are hand-harvested during peak ripeness and sorted rigorously before gentle destemming. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats with native yeasts, followed by an extended maceration of 15–20 days to extract delicate tannins and aromatic depth. The wine then matures for 12–14 months in French oak barrels (10–20% new) to achieve harmony between fruit intensity and subtle oak nuances.
Tasting Profile
Aroma
Complex notes of wild cherry, raspberry, violet petals and forest floor with a hint of sweet spice.
Palate
Silky tannins frame flavors of red currant, tart cherry and a gentle earthiness, balanced by lively acidity and a refined mineral backbone.
Finish
Long and elegant, with lingering red fruit reflections and a subtle touch of cedar.
Food Pairing
This versatile Burgundy pairs beautifully with roasted duck, grilled lamb, wild mushroom risotto, aged goat cheese and charcuterie boards. Its refined structure also complements richer fish dishes like seared salmon with a berry reduction.
Aging Potential
