E.Guigal is one of the main wine producers in the Rhône Valley. The property was created by Étienne Guigal in 1946, but is currently owned by Philipe Guigal of the 3rd generation. The vineyard covers over 215 hectares. They are divided between the village of Ampuis and the surrounding municipalities. The vines are located on terroirs with the Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations. The house also produces other great southern Rhône Valley appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Tavel.
Winemaking
The vinification is traditional. After a long maceration, the wine is aged for a year and a half in oak barrels.
This wine with a dark and brilliant red color has a nose of black fruits and spicy notes. On the palate, it is ample with rounded tannins. It is an elegant, fine wine, with a good persistence, as well as a good balance between aromatic intensity and finesse.

This Côtes du Rhône should be served between 16-18°C. It goes perfectly with charcuterie, game, barbecue and cheese dishes. This wine can also accompany ragout, stews and pork tenderloin.
