Château de Corcelles

It was in the 15th century that Antoine de Laye began the reconstruction of the Château de Corcelles on the foundations of an old stronghold built in the Carolingian era. The Douby River, which flows at the foot of the Château, marked the boundary between the dioceses of Autun and Lyon, the counties of Burgundy and Beaujolais. It is today, within a few kilometers, the border between the departments of Saône et Loire and Rhône. From 1984, the Richard family took over the prestigious domain.Owned by the Richard family, Château de Corcelles operates 92 hectares of vines in several appellation areas: Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Brouilly and Bourgogne Blanc. The areas of Perréon and Charentay, located south of Corcelles produce rich, round and expressive Beaujolais-Villages, while the terroirs of Pruzilly and Saint-Vérand, located north of Corcelles are later terroirs where Beaujolais-Villages are more elegant, fresh and airy. Cultivation work is undertaken with respect for the environment, in sustainable agriculture.
