Château de Beaucastel has long been considered one of France's greatest wines and is unanimously renowned for its balance, elegance and ability to age. Beaucastel has an extraordinary terroir at the northern tip of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, very exposed to the Mistral. The thirteen grape varieties of the appellation have been grown there organically since the 1960s.
The 2017 vintage presents a sustained to fairly deep color. The pure and elegant nose evokes slightly kirsch cherries, blackcurrant, spices, with floral notes, aromatic herbs (bay leaf), and light chocolate. The palate is elegant, the ripe and fine tannins, a beautiful dense and concentrated structure, with an attractive velvety texture enhanced by finely spiced fruit. The finish is long, well held by elegant and coated tannins, harmonious and very persistent (fruits, spices, floral notes). A great vintage!
