Bourgognewijnen zijn de bekendste en meest wijdverspreide specialiteit van onze regio.

De wijngaarden beslaan een lengte van 280 km en omvatten drie van de vier departementen: Yonne, Côte d'Or en Saône-et-Loire. Beaujolais, dat tot de Bourgogne wordt gerekend, wordt in feite gemaakt van druivensoorten die in het departement Rhône voorkomen.

De Bourgogne telt ongeveer honderd AOC's, de "appellations d'origine contrôlée" (officiële kwaliteitskeurmerken), waaronder meer dan 30 grands crus.

De wijn uit deze wijngaarden bestaat voornamelijk uit witte wijn (61%). Daarnaast is er een derde rode wijn (31%) en tot slot crémant (8%). De productie van rosé is marginaal (minder dan 1% van alle Bourgognewijnen).
