About Pommard Louis Latour Burgundy
Heritage and Terroir
Produced by Maison Louis Latour, one of Burgundy’s oldest and most respected houses, Pommard hails from vineyards on red clay soils in the Côte de Beaune. This terroir imparts powerful structure and distinctive mineral character that sets Pommard apart from other Burgundies.
Winemaking Process
Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, destemmed, and fermented in open-top oak vats. The wine undergoes malolactic conversion and is aged 14–16 months in French oak barrels (approximately 30% new oak) to develop depth and complexity.
Tasting Profile
Color: Deep garnet with ruby highlights
Nose: Red cherries, wild strawberries, subtle violet, and forest floor
Palate: Bold red fruit flavors balanced by silky tannins, hints of clove, licorice, and a persistent mineral finish
Food Pairing & Serving
This wine shines alongside roast lamb, beef bourguignon, game birds, and aged Comté or Gruyère cheeses. Serve at 16–18 °C (60–65 °F) to fully appreciate its aromatic intensity. Decanting for 30–45 minutes will enhance its bouquet and soften tannins.
Cellaring Potential
Enjoy now through 2035. This Pommard gains additional layers of forest floor and truffle nuances with age, while maintaining vibrant fruit and freshness.
