The pommard is made exclusively from pinot noir.In the north, the wines are balanced and elegant, and express themselves with finesse. In the south, these are wines that are a little hard in their youth, but also vinous and firm, with a beautiful deep red color. Premier crus have a round texture, with a fine and assertive structure. They have a deep ruby-purple color with mauve reflections, and draw from their grape variety aromas of small black fruits (blackberry and blueberry) and redcurrant. They are accompanied by cherry stone and ripe plum, then they evolve towards more animal and wild notes. With age, these wines develop aromas of leather, chocolate and pepper. These are reds to age, rather tannic in their youth, with time they become superb wines
