Morey Saint Denis

The red wines of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation are made almost exclusively from pinot noir. The white wines use chardonnay and pinot blanc.The Premier Cru reds vary in their expressions. To the north, towards the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, the wines are more powerful, while they refine going down to the south towards the commune of Chambolle. Generally, their color has an assertive tonality of intense garnet or bright ruby, with purplish reflections. The aromas are those of small black fruits and red stone fruits such as cherries. In the region, it is said that they “truffle” as they age, that is to say that they gain in notes of leather, moss and game, reminiscent of a hunting party. If they can be consumed young, it is therefore recommended to let them wait in the cellar for a few years.
