포도밭은 길이가 280km에 달하며 부르고뉴의 4개 데파르트망 중 3개 데파르트망(욘, 코트도르, 손에루아르)에 걸쳐 있습니다. 부르고뉴 와인으로 분류되는 보졸레는 사실 론 데파르트망에서 재배되는 포도 품종으로 만들어집니다.
부르고뉴 포도밭에는 30개 이상의 그랑 크뤼를 포함하여 약 100개의 AOC(원산지 통제 명칭)가 있습니다.
이 포도밭에서 생산되는 와인은 주로 화이트 와인(61%)이며, 레드 와인(31%)과 크레망(8%)이 있습니다. 로제 와인 생산량은 미미하여 전체 부르고뉴 와인의 1% 미만을 차지합니다.
