Pernand Vergelesses

Pernand-Vergelesses Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the grape varieties of the appellation.It is divided between Village appellation wines and Premier Cru wines. The former have very different expressions depending on their altitude and the highly variable exposure of their vines. The reds are firm and full-bodied, often well-structured, with aromas of red and black fruits typical of their grape variety. Whites represent more than 40% of this appellation. They pleasantly develop the characteristics of Chardonnay through aromas of white flowers, and with age, amber and honey. There are eight premier crus: Creux-de-la-Net, En-Caradeux, Île-des-Vergelesses, Les-Fichots and Vergelesses; and Sous-Frétille, Clos-Berthet and Village-de-Pernand, which produce only white wines. All these wines have aging potential, but this varies according to their climates.
